PCR cosmetic packaging

PCR (post-consumer recycled) packaging lets a beauty brand cut virgin plastic and make a credible sustainability claim — but only if the recycled content is verified. Vella sources PCR cosmetic packaging from vetted China partner factories with 30–100% PCR content, third-party GRS certificates on every order, and low MOQ, so your eco claim is both real and defensible.

Why Vella

Recycled content that's verified, not just claimed.

01

30–100% PCR across formats

Post-consumer recycled PP, PE, PET and PETG for bottles, jars and tubes — 30% as a cost-effective entry point, up to 100% for select formats.

02

Third-party certificate on every order

'PCR content' without a certificate is just a factory claim. We require a GRS (Global Recycled Standard) or equivalent certificate from the resin supplier — and pass it to you for your brand communications.

03

Drop-in compatible

PCR formats are engineered to work with existing fill lines and closures, so switching to recycled content doesn't force a redesign of your product.

04

PPWR and market-ready

We check your format against EU PPWR recycled-content and recyclability targets, and advise on mono-material recycle-ready structures where you need them.

Questions

Frequently asked

What is PCR packaging?
PCR stands for post-consumer recycled — plastic collected from consumers, processed and remanufactured into new packaging. It reduces reliance on virgin plastic and supports circular-economy and regulatory goals (EU PPWR, UK EPR). PCR content is expressed as a percentage, e.g. 30% or 100%.
What PCR percentage can I achieve?
For most PP and PE formats, 30–100% is achievable. 30% is the cost-effective entry point; 50% is increasingly the credible-claim standard; 100% is available for select bottles, jars and tubes at a premium. Clear PET/PETG PCR is available where transparency matters.
How does Vella verify PCR content?
We require a third-party PCR content certificate — typically GRS (Global Recycled Standard) — from the resin supplier, not just a factory declaration, on every PCR order. We provide this certificate so your recycled-content claim is defensible on shelf and with regulators.
Is PCR packaging recyclable at end of life?
PCR refers to what the packaging is made from; recyclability refers to what happens after use. They're separate. For a recyclability claim, we route to mono-material PE or PP structures and verify the whole pack (including labels and inserts) is compatible — we'll advise on both.
Does PCR packaging cost more?
There's usually a modest premium over virgin plastic, which narrows at higher volumes and varies with PCR percentage. Many brands find the sustainability positioning and regulatory readiness worth it — we'll quote virgin vs PCR side by side so you can decide.
