The Australian importer's name and address must appear on the pack. For a brand sourcing from China this is the line most often forgotten at artwork stage, because it does not exist on the domestic version of the same label. It is physical space, and it has to be designed in. Mandatory information must also be in English.
Ingredients must be listed by INCI name in descending order of concentration. That is a label-area requirement as much as a regulatory one — a long botanical ingredient list on a small jar is a typography problem before it is a compliance problem, and it is better solved when the container is chosen than after.
AICIS is a business registration, not a product approval — and it does not govern your packaging. You register your business with AICIS before you import, and you make an annual declaration of the chemicals you introduced. AICIS does not set labelling, safety data sheet or packaging requirements; cosmetic labelling and product safety sit with the ACCC. Brands routinely conflate the two and prepare for the wrong one, so it is worth separating them early.
Sustainability. We advise on packaging aligned with APCO's sustainable packaging guidelines, including PCR content and recycle-ready mono-material options where the formula allows.
