The binary recycling label has moved, and the new date should drive your print quantity. All packaging materials were originally due to carry a “Recycle” or “Do not recycle” mark from 1 April 2026. Defra has postponed that to 31 March 2027, flexible films included. So a label run printed today can leave it off — one that has to last beyond March 2027 cannot. That is a print-quantity decision, and we would rather you make it deliberately than discover it.
UK EPR fees are modulated from 2026 using the Recyclability Assessment Methodology. In plain terms: your material choice now changes what you pay per tonne, so a mono-material bottle and a multi-material one at the same unit price are no longer the same cost. We flag the RAM implication when the choice is close, because on a repeat-order format it compounds every year.
Your Responsible Person must be based in the UK. This is where Great Britain diverges from the EU, and it is not interchangeable with an EU Responsible Person. Transitional provisions allow certain EU or EEA Responsible Person details to satisfy label requirements only until 31 December 2027 — another date that decides how long an artwork file stays valid. Notification is through SCPN, Great Britain's replacement for the EU's CPNP.
